Reflecting on Stir’s Place in the Creator Economy

The creator economy has been growing exponentially over the last few months. Technology has significantly lowered the barriers to content creation and distribution, converting casual consumers of content to proactive creators of content. According to SignalFire, there are more than 50 million independent content creators today.

Many of these creators are monetizing their content, becoming entrepreneurs by leveraging their creativity, building vibrant businesses centered around their personal brands.

But creators can’t be entrepreneurs if they don’t have access to the tools that enable them to run their careers like businesses.

At Stir, we are trying to address this gap. Our core mission has always been to financially empower creators by building tools that help them run their careers like businesses.

To this end, we’re building a financial studio for content creators, helping them collaborate, split revenue, and manage their money, simplifying every aspect of running their businesses.

Of course, we can’t spearhead this movement alone. We need supportive voices that help underscore Stir’s potential to fundamentally change the way creators run their businesses.

Being recognized by The Information, one of the most influential voices in Silicon Valley, validates all our efforts so far. We’re so excited to announce that Stir is a part of their list of Top 50 Most Promising Startups of 2021.

It's very encouraging to be recognized alongside companies we adore, sharing the stage with incredible projects like Mirror and Pietra, knowing we all share a similar mission.

We’d like to thank all our partners investors, team members, and creators, without whom we couldn’t have come this far. Needless to say, we’re just getting started.

Here's a snapshot of what we've been up to this year:

  • We launched Stir for Managers — a full suite of tools enabling managers to grow their businesses
  • We introduced Pay — a feature powering free and instant payments between creators and their teams
  • We launched Newsroom — a smarter way to leverage the creative power of Discord communities
  • We partnered with Webflow to launch Webflow for Creators — a democratized way for creators to design and build web applications

2021 in Numbers

  • 3x growth in creators using our products
  • 15x growth in creator payments processed through our products
  • A growing team with 10 full-time members in NYC, LA, and SF
